Brant and Cochran Dirigo Axe

 

Beautiful Hand Made Axe from Brant and Cochran of Maine USA. Quality materials, time taught Skills, passion for the outdoors and for keeping the traditions of Tool manufacture alive, all combine to make the Axes that come out of this South Portland Shop some of the very best you can buy.

 

There are long wait times for these Axes and they are made in small numbers. Each Axe is struck with the forgers Initial and the year of manufacture..

 

Based on the famous Maine Cruiser (Maine wedge pattern) the Dirigo is forged from USA High Carbon 1050 Steel and the pattern allows for a very versitile and useful Camp Axe. Excellent at Cutting and Splitting, this is a true allrounder.

 

1.75lb head is a great weight for this use and its hafted on a 17in Amish turned Hickory handle, Wood Weged head.

 

Comes with a custom leather Stitched and rivetted leather Blade Cover.

And in 2020 to honor Maine's bicentennial we are stamping a special "Dirigo" --- Maine's state motto --- on each belt axe!
